About this project

Open

I will give statistics on the following 1) populations of Singapore based on ethnic groups - there's 4 kinds ( Chinese, Malay Indians, Others) 2) Admission of schools based on each ethnic group 3) annual data of 1 and 2 . The statistics are data which needs to be programmed visually.

The data given will need to be programmed in the form of dots. The dots represent a percentage of an ethnic group. The dots need to be placed within the Singapore map ( the map is the background image).

The population of each ethnic group needs to be color coded for easy identification.

Since each ethnic group will be admitted to five types of schools, the shapes to identify the school need to be different. There is primary, secondary, junior colleges, polytechnic and university - there needs to be 5 distinct shapes to identify schools the ethnic group belongs to.

Interactive elements need to be added. When a mouse cursor moves over a dot or any shape, there is a pop-up text that shows the population of given ethnic group, school admitted, and the year. As mentioned previously, the data given to you will be statistics on ethnic groups, their admission to type of schools, and also, the timespan of the data - which will be 15 years ( 2000-2015).

Additionally, another interactive element is using of keys to show data for a particular year. There needs to be 15 keys where when it is pressed, it changes to a given year showing population of ethnic groups and which school they go to. I would prefer if the keys are pressed the transition is smooth - so that users can see the changes every year.

Besides using keys, it would be better if this 15 year data is animated to show changes across the numbers of population without using any keys, or just by clicking spacebar to 'activate' the animation.
