Summary
We're running a small, invitation-only pilot with working CNC machine shops. A company building software for manufacturing has software that writes CAM programs. It doesn't know your machines, tools or fixtures yet. Your job is to teach it by checking and fixing the programs it writes for your shop. Nothing is cut. Everything stays in simulation.
How it works:
1. Share 5–10 jobs your shop has already cut. These must be real 3-axis milling parts that you programmed and that were cut on your shop's machines. For each one, send the Fusion 360 file, the 3D model, and the drawing if you have it. We pay us$100 once we accept five, plus us$20 for each extra job, up to ten.
2. Tell us about your shop. Fill in a short form (about 15 minutes) covering your machines, cutting tools, vises and fixtures, and add one photo of the shop floor. A Fusion tool library or 3D models of your fixtures and soft jaws help a lot.
3. Sign a short agreement as a shop.
After onboarding, the ongoing work is reviewing and correcting software-generated CAM programs for your own shop's setup. It's flexible hourly work you can do around production.
Pay
- US$30 per hour for review time, paid monthly
- Paid to the shop or directly to the programmer
- US$100–200 for the setup jobs, as described above
Requirements:
- You work at a machine shop with 3-axis CNC mills. This pilot isn't open to independent freelancers.
- You have 3+ years of CNC programming experience.
- You use Fusion 360 CAM on those machines today.
- The shop owner agrees to take part. If you're the owner, even better.
- You only share jobs your shop has the right to share. No customer-owned designs without permission.
What you get:
- Paid programmer time that fits around production
- Software tuned to your machines, tools and fixtures
- First access when the software is ready for live job
