Critical Motor Board Failure Investigation and Fix for Spoolpro System

Published on the May 19, 2026 in Engineering & Manufacturing

About this project

Open

We are seeking an experienced engineer to investigate and resolve a critical motor board failure in our SpoolPro wire-spooling system. The primary issue manifests during braking events: the motor correctly stops, but subsequently fails to restart. This indicates a fundamental problem within the motor control system that requires urgent attention.

The scope of this project includes a comprehensive analysis of the following components and functionalities:

*  Motor power stage: Detailed examination of the power delivery and conversion components.
*  Braking circuitry: Thorough inspection and testing of the braking mechanism and its associated electronics.
*  Firmware brake logic: Analysis of the embedded software responsible for controlling the braking sequence and motor restart.
*  MOSFET/gate-driver behavior: Evaluation of the performance and integrity of power MOSFETs and their gate drivers.
*  PCB design: Review of the printed circuit board layout for potential design flaws, component stress, or manufacturing defects contributing to the failure.

The successful freelancer will be responsible for identifying the root cause of the failure, proposing both temporary mitigations to prevent immediate recurrence, and developing long-term hardware and/or firmware fixes to ensure system reliability. The goal is to prevent additional failures and restore full operational capability to the SpoolPro system.
