About this project

Open

I require an experienced electronics engineer to debug and fix a compact round PCB device, Metrifit Gym Pro, which integrates an ESP32-C3 microcontroller and a VL53L1X Time-of-Flight distance sensor. The device is designed for both USB-C powered operation (wired data via USB serial) and Li-ion battery powered operation (wireless data via Bluetooth).

The main problem is that the manufactured pcb is not powering up when connected via usb-c. The ESP32-C3 is not energizing, and there is no USB detection or communication.

I need a freelancer to:
1.  Analyze the provided schematic and PCB KiCad files.
2.  Identify the root cause of the power failure when USB-C is connected and why the ESP32-C3 is not turning on.
3.  Resolve all design issues related to USB-C power input (including cc lines and vbus), the power path (usb vs. Battery switching), and voltage regulation (ensuring 3.3V rail stability).
4.  Ensure proper USB operation (power and data), correct battery charging via the Tp4056 ic, and safe and reliable power switching between usb and battery.
5.  Suggest improvements for overall reliability, protection (such as ESD and filtering), and stability.
6.  Deliver an updated schematic and PCB layout in KiCad format, along with detailed notes explaining the identified problems and the implemented fixes.

Important Technical Details:
*  USB-C implementation with CC1/CC2 resistors (5.1k pulldown).
*  LDO regulator (TLV70233).
*  Li-ion charging IC (TP4056).
*  Schottky diode for power path management.
*  VL53L1X sensor utilizing I2C communication.
*  ESP32-C3 microcontroller with USB D+/D- connections.
