About this project

Open

Seeking an experienced genealogist for a targeted research project at the Landesarchiv Berlin. The primary goal is to locate the birth certificate of an ancestor born in the late 1880s. We have guiding information, including the parents' first names and a working surname hypothesis, to direct the search.
The scope also includes attempting to find the parents' marriage certificate and the ancestor's military service records (Kaiserliche Marine). The ideal candidate must have proven experience with German archives and be proficient in reading old German script. Please submit a proposal outlining your approach, relevant experience, and your rates (hourly or project-based).

Project overview

Main Objectives: 1. Birth Certificate: Locate the birth record of a male ancestor, born between 1886 and 1889. We have the parents' first names (August and Marie) and a working hypothesis for the family surname. 2. Marriage Certificate: If possible, locate the parents' marriage record, which would have occurred before 1889. 3. Military Records: Investigate the possibility of finding military service records, as we know the ancestor served in the Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine).
