Understand & document legacy systems: Read existing Python, sql, and (occasionally) php code across apps and scheduled jobs; map data flows, dependencies, and failure modes.
● Modernise & de-risk workloads: Refactor legacy scripts, add tests, harden error handling/retries/idempotency, and decommission redundant jobs.
● Migrate to managed Airflow: Plan and execute DAG migrations from legacy/self-hosted Airflow to a managed service (aws), secrets management, ci/cd, and observability.
● Improve reliability & visibility: Set up alerting/monitoring, on-call-friendly logging, backfill strategies; reduce false alarms.
● Partner with stakeholders: Interview job owners to capture “why” and business value; turn that into clear requirements; communicate trade-offs and timelines.
● Raise the bar: Review code, mentor peers, and contribute to engineering standards, security best practices, and documentation culture.
