Pumps for lubrication system used to move the main engine lubricating oil from the sump tank heading into the main engine with a certain pressure. The pressure generated by the pump must be able to meet the pressure needed by the main engine for lubrication. The fall in pressure lubrication for main engine, can cause great friction against components. Friction can cause heat causes the temperature of the main engine to be increased. So the main engine overheating that affects the performance of the main engine and caused the ship's speed to decrease. To get the pump power and choose a pump needs to be done calculation of pressure drop in L. O Cooler, calculation speed difference head, static head, head pressure difference, and head loss. The calculation used to determine the pump head and get the appropriate pump power. It is hoped the pressure generated by the pump to distribute the lubricant entrance main engine can be fulfilled according to specifications. From the calculation results in getting pressure drop in the value of L. O Cooler on the ship MT. Pegerungan with Plate Type Heat Exchanger amounted to 0.8641 bar.
