Aim: Update the admin system for our new holiday property rental website to allow a new type of users - "property owners" - to login, add properties and manage bookings.  Include our proposed payment model, including payments (initially by Paypal), email and sms communication.

Tasks:
- Adapt/create login system for property owners and renters.
- Create payment system for property owners (& renters, depending on final payment method chosen).
- Create email/sms communication system for property owners & renters.

- Build other components of admin system depending on the final payment method chosen (limited free trial or paid percentage).
- Other small tasks to be defined (as we consider other small changes to our new admin system).

Project overview

Current status: Our current holiday rental website is being upgraded to a new platform based on CodeIgnitor. This new framework has an existing admin system designed for system admins, allowing super users to managing property adverts and bookings along with system settings and property information categories, but moving forward we need to allow another level of administrative access for property owners, allowing them control of only their own properties and related bookings but not to the system-wide settings. We also need a system for property renters to login too, to view their enquiries and messages where applicable. Technologies: Our website has been designed using Codeignitor 2.1 as a framework, with PHP, javascript and a few ajax and jquery modules, sitting on top of a MySQL database. We have a development environment that we are currently developing these changes on until we can promote to replace the existing live legacy website. Skills sought: Familiarity and experience with CodeIgnitor (ideally 2.1.0), PHP and javascript essential. Experience with property rental websites useful but not essential. Experience with linking to payment systems and SMS messaging useful.
