Tengo un nav en HTML con varios niveles y necesito colocarle un class="active" al <li> y sus parents. Creo que se hace mediante JS o JQuery.

He encontrado esto: https://gist.github.com/johnmorris/b522257ae204d95ebcbe que aplica para un nav simple, sin submenues. En el adjunto está el código de mi nav. Necesito que sirva tanto para los links que no tengan parents, como para los que tengan "x" cantidades.
