we are looking for an experienced 3d character animator / cinematic artist to create a high-quality 20–30 second movie-style teaser for binkis, our officially licensed dc comics collectible line for a new company. Our goal is not simply to show the product, but to make these small chibi-style collectibles feel alive, cinematic, exciting and full of personality.

important — absolutely no ai

due to strict warner bros. Licensing requirements, Artificial Intelligence cannot be used at any stage of the visual production. This means no AI-generated animation, video, backgrounds, images, characters, textures or other visual assets we will take care of the music. The project can be produced using traditional 3D animation, filming/photography, VFX, compositing and post-production workflows.

We already have the 3D models of the eight characters, as well as the final physical collectibles and packaging. The characters are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, The Flash, Cyborg, Harley Quinn and The Joker.

We are open to two possible production approaches and would like the selected artist to help us determine which gives us the best result for the available budget:

full 3d animation — we provide the existing 3d files and you evaluate what preparation, rigging, optimization or additional work is needed to animate them.
real physical figures + traditional vfx/animation — we can ship the actual binkis collectibles to you so they can be filmed or photographed in real environments, then brought to life through traditional post-production: animated eyes/mouths, lighting effects, camera movement, speed effects, compositing, etc.

The physical Binkis are rigid chibi-style collectibles with no articulated arms, legs or bodies, so we understand this creates an interesting creative challenge. We actually feel that using the REAL physical figures could potentially make the teasers more unique and impressive because viewers would be seeing the actual product come alive. However, if this approach is considerably more complex or expensive than full 3d, we need to understand both options and choose according to quality and budget.

the story is already developed

we already have the scripts and concepts, so the animator does not need to create the story from zero. We will share the complete script for the selected concept. We are absolutely open to improving it together based on your animation and production experience.

We currently have three teaser concepts:

something is coming — mysterious, epic and cinematic. The characters are gradually revealed through darkness, dramatic lighting and fast action shots.
heroes have more fun — begins like a very serious superhero movie trailer, then unexpectedly becomes fun, energetic and chaotic, showing the playful personality of binkis.
the box — a mysterious binkis box begins moving and the eight characters escape one by one, combining suspense, action and humor.

All three concepts include the eight main characters plus a VERY subtle Reverse Flash easter egg. Reverse Flash should NOT be clearly revealed. His presence should only be suggested through something like a quick red/yellow speed trail, reflection or other almost imperceptible clue.

our intention is eventually to produce all three, but we will begin by producing one complete 20–30 second teaser. Please provide a fixed-price estimate and production time for ONE teaser.

We are sharing all three concepts now because work created for the first teaser — character preparation, rigging, environments, lighting, shaders, VFX setups, etc. — May potentially be reused in teasers #2 and #3. We want to plan the first production intelligently so later work can be more efficient and cost-effective.

Please tell us which of the three concepts you recommend producing first, whether you recommend full 3D or working with the real physical figures, and why. We are especially interested in understanding the difference in complexity and cost between both production routes.

because this project involves licensed warner bros. Material, unreleased products, 3D files and confidential creative assets, the selected freelancer will be required to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) before we share the complete production files and confidential materials.

When applying, please include examples of your best 3D character animation, cinematic, VFX or relevant product-animation work, the software you normally use, your estimated production time and your fixed price for one teaser.
