We are seeking a skilled mechanical/product designer to develop a prototype for a small desktop device. This device will facilitate highly controlled and repeatable visual inspection of small objects (e.g., Grains, seeds, small items) using a smartphone camera, primarily for computer vision and machine learning applications. Please note, this project focuses exclusively on the physical device (fixture) and does not involve software or AI development.

Device Core Functionality:
- Securely hold a smartphone face-down by its edges, ensuring no pressure on the phone's back and leaving the camera bump free.
- Precisely position a small object (single grain or small sample) directly under the smartphone camera.
- Provide controlled, uniform illumination using integrated LEDs and diffusers.
- Completely block external light through a closed enclosure to ensure consistent imaging conditions.
- Be designed for highly repeatable image capture.

Key Design Requirements:
- Desktop-sized enclosure suitable for lab or bench use.
- Incorporate a fixed grain chamber with a small tray or drawer for object placement.
- Allow for adjustable X–Y alignment between the phone and the object for initial calibration.
- Feature stable mechanical locking mechanisms to prevent movement after alignment.
- Utilize indirect LED lighting, with light pipes or diffused lighting preferred for optimal illumination.
- Designed specifically for 3d printing using common materials like pla or petg, and compatible with standard hardware (e.g., M3/M4 screws).

Deliverables:
- Complete mechanical design files (preferably in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar professional CAD software).
- STL files optimized and ready for 3D printing.
- Simple, clear assembly instructions.
- Optional: Exploded views or basic technical drawings.

Nice to Have (but not mandatory):
- Experience in designing for machine vision or photography setups.
- Understanding of lighting diffusion and glare control principles.
- Prior experience with 3D-printed enclosure projects.

Project Notes:
This is an R&D prototype project. The primary goal is to achieve a functional, well-engineered mechanical design, not a polished consumer product. We will provide necessary references, initial sketches, and ongoing feedback throughout the design process.
