Pequeña modificacion en Codeigniter

Necesito que en una pagina realizada en codeigniter sea posible cargar en un combobox elementos de una tabla y que se pueda hacer una seleccion multiple. Al guardar esa seleccion debe guardarse esos ids en otra tabla.
Tambien deberia poder editarse, es decir que cuando se ingresa nuevamente a la pagina puedan verse los elementos seleccionados.
