About this project
engineering-manufacturing / 3d-modelling-1
Open
We are seeking an experienced 3D designer and CAD engineer to develop an original, functional, and 3D-printable transforming flower vase. The product concept features approximately 8 synchronized movable petals that allow the vase to transition between three distinct positions: Closed (petals form a compact flower bud), Half open (petals partially reveal the inner planter), and Fully open (petals spread outward, revealing the planter).
The user will operate the vase by manually rotating the lower outer ring/base, while the inner planter remains stationary. The exact mechanical solution for the transforming mechanism is open to the freelancer's expertise, but it must be smooth, reliable, and suitable for FDM 3D printing (e.g., Cam/guide, follower, pivot system).
Approximate dimensions for the closed state are 110–120 mm diameter and 120–150 mm height. When fully open, the diameter should be 180–200 mm. These dimensions can be adjusted for optimal mechanical performance.
Key Deliverables Required:
- Editable step/stp cad files of the complete design.
- Individual STL files for every printable component.
- A complete assembled CAD model.
- A fully functional opening/closing mechanism.
- Design incorporating appropriate FDM tolerances and clearances.
- Basic assembly/exploded view documentation, if possible.
- A simple mechanism animation, if available.
This design is intended for commercial manufacturing and sale of the physical product. We require full commercial rights to the final design, including the ability to manufacture, modify, and sell the physical product. We do not plan to sell the STL files themselves.
Before commencing, please address the following:
- Your assessment of the project's technical feasibility.
- Your estimated development time for the complete project.
- Your total price for the complete project.
- The number of revisions included in your quotation.
- Whether functional revisions are included after printing and testing the first physical prototype.
- Confirmation that the quotation includes step/stp files, individual stl files, and full commercial rights.
