Cfd Investigation of Surface Emissivity Effects on Combined Convective and Radiative Heat Transfer

Published on the July 15, 2026 in Engineering & Manufacturing

About this project

Open

I am seeking an experienced CFD and heat transfer engineer to conduct a numerical study on combined natural convection and thermal radiation heat transfer within closed thermal enclosures. This project represents part of a comprehensive research study aimed at quantifying the effects of surface emissivity on convective and radiative thermal energy transfer inside closed enclosures. The study will investigate how emissivity influences heat transfer mechanisms, temperature distributions, flow structures, and overall thermal performance under various operating conditions. The freelancer will be required to: 1. Develop an appropriate CFD model for a closed thermal enclosure. 2. Perform simulations considering coupled natural convection and surface-to-surface radiation. 3. Investigate the effect of different surface emissivity values. 4. Study the influence of Rayleigh number on heat transfer characteristics. 5. Analyze the impact of enclosure geometry, shape, and boundary wall dimensions. 6. Generate and analyze: Temperature distributions. Velocity and flow field structures. Convective and radiative heat transfer rates. Convective and radiative Nusselt numbers. Ratio of convective to radiative heat transfer. Enhancement in total heat transfer due to changes in emissivity. 7. Compare the results for different cases and identify key trends.
