About this project

Open

We are seeking an experienced web game developer to create a polished, browser-based puzzle game inspired by Tetris. The primary goal is to deliver a fast, responsive, and visually clean web game that offers an excellent user experience on both desktop and mobile devices. We are looking for a developer who pays close attention to detail, ensuring the game stands out from typical clones.

Gameplay Requirements:
- Standard 10x20 game board with the seven classic tetrominoes.
- Implementation of a 7-bag randomizer for piece generation.
- Required mechanics include SRS rotation with wall kicks, soft drop, hard drop, hold piece, ghost piece, a 5-piece next queue, lock delay, and clear line animations.
- Level-based gravity system and full scoring, encompassing singles through tetrises, back-to-back bonuses, combos, and drop points.
- The game must run at a stable 60 frames per second (fps) with responsive das/arr (delayed auto shift / auto repeat rate) tuning.

ui / ux requirements:
- modern and clean visual style. Freelancers should be prepared to share one or two design references in their proposal.
- Essential ui elements include a main menu, an in-game hud (displaying score, level, lines, next piece, and hold piece), a pause overlay, and a game-over screen.
- The interface must be fully responsive, offering intuitive keyboard controls for desktop users and well-designed touch controls for mobile devices.
- Background music and sound effects (SFX) are required, along with a mute toggle option.
- High scores should be saved locally using localStorage.

Technical Specifications:
- TypeScript is the preferred programming language.
- Rendering should utilize Canvas or WebGL (Pixi.js is acceptable; DOM-based playfields are not).
- The choice of framework is up to the developer; please recommend your preferred framework and provide a brief explanation for your selection.
- The project structure should maintain a clean separation between game logic, rendering, and UI components.
- Cross-browser compatibility is essential, supporting Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
- All third-party dependencies must be permissively licensed.
- Source code management should use Git with meaningful commit messages.

Deliverables:
- Full source code provided via a private GitHub repository.
- A production-ready build suitable for static hosting.
- A concise README file covering setup instructions, build process, and guidance on how to tune gameplay constants.
- Full intellectual property (IP) transfer upon final payment.

Timeline & Budget:
- The estimated project duration is 3–5 weeks, structured across three key milestones:
  1. Core gameplay implementation.
  2. UI, audio, and mobile integration.
  3. Final polish and delivery.
- A fixed-price budget is preferred for this project. Please provide separate quotes for optional extras such as a global leaderboard, multiplayer functionality, or additional themes.
