Alma Asfalto, an independent bilingual literary journal based in Mexico City, is seeking a skilled web developer to build a new minimalist website. Our current Carrd site is too limited, and we need a more robust solution to showcase our monthly PDF editions.
Project Goal:
Develop a clean, fast, and mobile-responsive static website that allows visitors to read entire PDF editions directly on the site, page by page, in a full-screen embedded viewer. The site should reflect our minimalist, black-and-white aesthetic, inspired by avant-garde journals of the 1920s.
Key Requirements:
- Create a home page/index.
- Develop dedicated pages for each monthly edition (e.g., "July," "August," "September," "October").
- Implement an embedded full PDF viewer on each edition page, allowing users to read page by page without downloading or opening external links (e.g., Using iframe,
PDF.js, or similar technologies).
- Ensure the site is fully mobile responsive for optimal viewing on all devices.
- Guarantee fast loading times.
- Apply basic styling that matches Alma Asfalto's existing minimalist, black-and-white branding.
- Configure domain connection to our existing domain (
almaasfalto.com) with the new hosting provider.
Technical Details:
- Hosting can be Netlify, Vercel, SiteGround, or a similar platform.
- PDFs for current and future editions will be provided.
- The selected freelancer will be responsible for uploading PDFs to the server and embedding them appropriately.
- No complex features, e-commerce stores, or databases are required for this project.
Ideal Candidate:
- Possesses strong front-end development skills (html, css, javascript).
- Has proven experience in embedding PDF or magazine-like publications on websites.
- Demonstrates an eye for clean, elegant, and minimal design.
- Communicates clearly and effectively in English or Spanish.
