Job Title: Full Stack Cloud Engineer - Database Optimization and Rails Modernization

Contexto Geral do Projeto

We are a small, distributed SaaS team building carpool solutions and licensing these to schools and school districts in the US. We need a Cloud Infrustructure Engeneer to compliment our team on this project and potentially continuing as our freelance cloud engeneer. Should be able to work on PST timezone for the ongoing work. Responsibilities: Database and Infrastructure Optimization: Implement VPC peering between projects to enhance database security Remove public IP exposure from our database while maintaining functionality Optimize database performance by scaling resources and fine-tuning configurations Set up and configure automatic deployments for our application AI Integration: Implement and optimize the use of AI-powered development tools in our workflow Train team members on effective use of AI assistants for coding and infrastructure management Develop best practices for AI tool usage in our development and operations processes Requirements: Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly with VPC networking and Cloud SQL Strong knowledge of database administration and performance optimization Experience with secure network architecture in cloud environments Familiarity with setting up ci/cd pipelines extensive experience using ai-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex) Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the team Fluency in English Nice to have: Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Knowledge of Ruby on Rails or similar web frameworks
