Development of a Modern, Responsive News Website for The Benidorm Post

The Benidorm Post – Website Development Brief

I would like to develop the first version of The Benidorm Post, a digital media platform dedicated exclusively to the city of Benidorm, Spain. This is not intended to be just another news website; our goal is to build a trusted local media brand for residents, tourists and businesses. The first version should be simple, professional, fast and fully scalable, allowing future expansion without requiring a complete redesign.

The website must be fully responsive, optimized for desktop, tablet, iPad and mobile devices. It should have a clean, modern and premium design inspired by major news portals, using our existing brand identity.

The homepage should include the following sections:

1. Live Webcam (Main Feature)
The most important feature of the homepage will be a large Live Webcam section placed at the top of the page. We are currently negotiating a partnership with the company that owns the official Benidorm webcams. While the agreement is being finalized, please create a professional placeholder displaying:

the design should remain exactly the same after launch. Once we receive the official streaming code, it should simply be inserted without changing the layout. The section must be compatible with iframe, HTML5 Video, hls, rtsp, youtube live or similar streaming technologies.

2. Events Calendar

Next to the webcam (desktop version) there should be a sticky sidebar displaying upcoming events in Benidorm. On mobile devices, the calendar should appear below the webcam.

Each event should include:

* Title
* Date
* Time
* Location
* Short description
* “Read More” button

Initially, all events will be added manually through the admin panel.

3. News System

Below the webcam, create a professional news section.

We will publish our own articles manually. Each article should include:

* Featured image
* Title
* Summary
* Category
* Publication date

* social sharing buttons

the admin panel must allow us to create, edit, schedule and delete articles easily.

4. Instagram Integration

Create a section displaying our latest Instagram content from @thebenidormpost.

This section should automatically display recent posts and provide a Follow us on Instagram button.

5. Advertise With Us

Create a dedicated commercial page for potential advertisers.

The page should include:

* Company presentation
* About us
* Services
* Pricing
* Media Kit download
* Contact form
* WhatsApp button
* “Request a Quote” button

This page should be easy to update through the admin panel.

Multi-language System

The website must support all available languages, not only English and Spanish.

The system should automatically detect the visitor’s browser language while allowing manual language selection through a language switcher.

The website should be prepared to translate:

* Pages
* News articles
* Events
* Menus
* Buttons
* Forms
* Contact pages

The multilingual structure must also support proper international SEO using language-specific URLs and hreflang tags whenever applicable.

Admin Panel

The admin panel must be simple and user-friendly. It should allow us to:

* Publish and edit news
* Manage events
* Edit homepage sections
* Update pricing
* Replace the Media Kit
* Manage contact requests
* Activate the webcam once the partnership is complete
* Update texts and images without programming knowledge

Technical Requirements

The website must be:

* Built using clean and scalable code

Future Expansion

Although not required for the first version, the website architecture should allow future implementation of:
