Climate-Smart Water Management for Sustainable Farming in Rural Communities

Published on the August 12, 2025 in IT & Programming

About this project

Open

The Rural Empowerment Center (REC) is seeking expert assistance to develop and implement a climate-smart water management system for rural farming communities. Farmers in Cameroon face significant challenges due to climate variability, unpredictable rainfall, and declining water resources, which threaten agricultural productivity and food security. While satellite-based monitoring tools exist, rural farmers often lack the necessary training, technology, and coordinated systems to effectively utilize this data for water management and crop planning. The primary goal of this project is to enhance climate resilience and agricultural productivity by establishing a community-driven, data-informed water management system. This initiative will involve combining local water monitoring efforts with advanced satellite data analysis and comprehensive community training programs. The successful implementation of this project will empower farmers to adapt to climate change, improve their water usage efficiency, and secure their livelihoods through sustainable farming practices.
