Data Center Infrastructure Maintenance and Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable freelancer for on-site data center infrastructure maintenance and support. The scope of work is comprehensive, covering server, GPU, and network device management, as well as general data center operational tasks. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to established procedures, and excellent communication skills with remote engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Server and GPU Infrastructure:
- Replace failed hardware components including drives, memory modules, power supplies, fans, system boards, and RAID controllers.
- Perform replacements of GPU trays and baseboards, Network Interface Cards (NICs), Data Processing Units (DPUs), and interconnect cables as directed by remote guidance.
- Execute OEM diagnostics to confirm the health and functionality of nodes after each repair.
- Assist with firmware updates and conduct bios/bmc checks under the supervision of a remote engineer.

Network Devices:
- Replace critical network components such as line cards, supervisors, power supplies, fan trays, optics, Direct Attach Copper (DAC)/Active Optical Cables (AOC), and fiber cables.
- Load pre-approved configurations and software versions onto network devices as instructed.
- Verify interface states, link speeds, and neighbor statuses in coordination with the remote engineering team before task sign-off.

General Data Center Tasks:
- Execute rack and stack procedures for new or relocated equipment.
- Ensure proper cable dressing and labeling standards are maintained.
- Perform power-cycling of equipment and conduct thorough visual inspections.
- Manage asset tagging and conduct inventory checks to maintain accurate records.
- Receive spare parts, tag faulty components, and prepare them for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).
- Document all tasks with photos, logs, and timely ticket updates.
