I need a lightweight, real-time chat application that runs entirely in the browser. The whole project revolves around one key requirement: fast, reliable text messaging on the Web.
Scope
• Develop the full front-end and back-end stack. Feel free to use React, Vue, or another modern framework on the client side, and
Node.js, Django, or a comparable solution on the server.
• Implement WebSocket (or another real-time transport) so messages appear instantly without page refreshes.
• Include user registration, secure login, and basic profile management.
• Design a clean, responsive interface that works smoothly on desktop and mobile browsers alike.
Deliverables
1. Source code, clearly commented and organised.
2. A short README with setup, build, and deployment steps.
3. A live demo link or deployment script so I can test the app end to end.
Future iterations may add file sharing, emojis, or notifications, so structure the code to make new features easy to plug in later. If you have experience with cloud deployment (e.g., AWS, Heroku, Vercel) please mention it, as I’d like straightforward hosting once development is complete.
