Malagasy Language Lead: Localization & Quality Assurance Expert

We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Malagasy Language Lead to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest linguistic quality and cultural relevance of all our user-facing content in Malagasy. The ideal candidate will possess native-level proficiency in Malagasy and full professional proficiency in English, coupled with extensive experience in translation, localization, and linguistic quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Linguistic Leadership and Quality Assurance:
Define, maintain, and regularly update Malagasy language standards, including comprehensive style guides, glossaries, terminology databases, and localization memories.
Serve as the primary linguistic quality authority for all Malagasy content, ensuring adherence to established standards.
Conduct thorough linguistic QA, proofreading, editing, and quality review of critical user-facing materials.
Actively resolve all language, terminology, tone, style, and cultural adaptation queries to maintain consistency and accuracy.

Translation, Review, and Localization:
Translate, review, post-edit, and adapt high-priority content from English into Malagasy across various domains.
Ensure unwavering consistency in tone, terminology, style, and brand voice throughout all localized content.
Provide essential support for localization efforts across multiple content types, including product descriptions, technology documentation, marketing campaigns, operational guidelines, training materials, and legal-related documents.
Assist in the onboarding and training processes for new translators working on Malagasy content, ensuring they meet our quality benchmarks.

Required Expertise:

Native-level proficiency in written and spoken Malagasy is essential.
Full professional proficiency in English is required.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in translation, localization, linguistic quality assurance, or language review.
Demonstrated strong knowledge of Malagasy grammar, idioms, cultural nuances, appropriate tone, and contemporary language usage.
Proficiency in using Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools and localization platforms such as Trados, MemoQ, Phrase, Lokalise, or similar industry-standard tools.
Proven experience in managing and working with linguistic assets, including glossaries, style guides, terminology databases, and translation memories.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Languages, or a closely related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Prior experience in a leadership linguistic role such as a Language Lead, Senior Translator, Editor, Reviewer, LQA Specialist, or Localization Quality Lead.
Experience localizing content specifically for technology, marketing, legal, product, digital platforms, or training environments.
Candidates based in Madagascar or those with recent, extensive living or working experience with Malagasy-speaking audiences are highly valued.
