Remote (South America Preferred) | Part-Time Ruby on Rails Developer for Saas Edtech Platform

GoKid (www.gokid.mobi) is an award-winning, impact-driven SaaS company helping schools and families organize carpools to reduce traffic and absenteeism. We are a lean, passionate team and work closely with K-12 schools across the U.S.

We’re looking for a skilled Ruby on Rails developer to support and enhance our platform. This is a remote, contract-based role (15-20 hours/week) with the opportunity for long-term collaboration.

Tech Stack:
- Ruby on Rails (version 7.1)
- PostgreSQL
- Sidekiq
- Sendgrid
- Blackbaud integration knowledge a plus
- Google Cloud (App Engine, Cloud SQL)
- React (basic familiarity a plus)
- Sentry for monitoring
- Mixpanel for analytics

Responsibilities:
- Maintain and extend backend API endpoints
- Fix bugs, optimize response time
- Debug performance issues (Sidekiq, database queries)
- Collaborate with our CTO, product manager frontend team, and QA tester via Jira and Slack
- Support manual Google Cloud deployments (App Engine + Docker)

Requirements:
- 5+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
- Fluent in Git and comfortable with pull request workflows
- Familiar with PostgreSQL and writing optimized queries
- Clear written and verbal communication in English
- Reliable availability during PST hours / once a week joined call

Time & Budget:
- 15-20 hours per week
- Hourly rate: up to $10-25 USD/hour
- Long-term potential for the right fit

Bonus if you have:
- Google Cloud deployment experience (App Engine or Cloud Run)
- Experience working with education platforms or school data
- Familiarity with React frontend
