This project aims to empower refugee women in Malawi and Tanzania by establishing a sustainable handicrafts program. The initiative will focus on training women to create eco-friendly handicrafts using recycled and locally available materials. Beyond skill development, the project will provide comprehensive entrepreneurship guidance and support for market access, enabling women to generate stable income, improve their livelihoods, and foster environmental sustainability within their
communities.Key needs and inputs for this project include: Development of training materials and procurement of tools necessary for handicraft production. Identification and setup of suitable workshop spaces and equipment. Implementation of market access strategies, including participation in local fairs and establishing presence on online platforms. Provision of mentorship in business development and financial literacy to ensure long-term success. Execution of awareness campaigns focused on sustainability and community engagement to promote environmental responsibility and social cohesion.Expected outcomes of this program are: Refugee women will acquire practical handicraft skills and achieve greater financial independence. Increased community awareness regarding recycling practices and environmental responsibility. Strengthening of the local economy through the successful sale of unique, eco-friendly handicrafts. Enhanced social cohesion and empowerment among women within the refugee communities.
