Experienced Spanish-Language Manuscript Editor for Fiction and Nonfiction Books

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Spanish-Language Manuscript Editor to review and refine Spanish translations of our books. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest quality of our translated content, making sure it reads naturally and accurately reflects the original English manuscripts. The ideal candidate will possess strong literary reading skills in Spanish and a keen eye for detail, capable of identifying and correcting unnatural phrasing, machine translation artifacts, and awkward language.

Responsibilities:
- Read Spanish translations of our books thoroughly.
- Flag any text that appears unnatural, robotic, or indicative of machine translation.
- Ensure the Spanish version effectively captures the tone, rhythm, and original intent of the English source material.
- Provide marked-up documents with specific, actionable notes on phrasing, idiom usage, and overall flow to improve the translation quality.

Requirements:
- Native Spanish speaker, with a preference for Colombian or general Latin American Spanish proficiency.
- Demonstrated strong literary reading and comprehension skills in Spanish.
- Proven ability to detect and correct unnatural phrasing, machine translation errors, and awkward linguistic constructions in Spanish prose.
- Extensive experience reading both fiction and nonfiction works in Spanish.
- Basic English comprehension is required to reference the original English manuscripts when necessary.

This is an ongoing hourly position, estimated at approximately 10 hours per week, and will commence once our book translation process into Spanish begins. We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our team for long-term collaboration.
