About this project

Open

I’m looking for a reliable, bilingual (English/Spanish) local operations manager in Chihuahua, Mexico to handle all on-the-ground tasks for an international pottery business. The main focus will be Mata Ortiz pottery and other well-known regional styles such as Los Nuevos Casa Grandes pottery.

Responsibilities include:

Sourcing and picking up pottery directly from artisans and galleries.

Inspecting inventory for quality.

Hiring and coordinating with photographers for white-background and lifestyle product images.

Exploring and discovering new pottery styles and artisans in the area.

Acting as my trusted local contact and communicator for all in-hand tasks.

You will work directly with me while I handle the back-end operations, global marketing, and online sales from the United States. This role will be hourly paid with opportunities to grow as the business scales.

General Context of the Project:
I’m a University of Arizona grad majoring in Global Business and Operational Supply Chain Management with experience building online brands. I’m launching a high-end international platform to sell authentic Mata Ortiz pottery and other artisan pottery from Chihuahua to global markets.

Your role is critical as the “feet on the ground” to ensure we source the best pieces, maintain quality, and create professional product visuals. Together, we’ll scale fast by combining your local expertise and connections with my global e-commerce and operations strategy.

This is ideal for someone entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and passionate about Mexican artistry.

Project overview

This role is all about being the on-the-ground operator in Chihuahua. You’ll be actively visiting pottery workshops, artisan studios, and galleries to source and secure the best Mata Ortiz and Los Nuevos Casa Grandes pottery pieces. Your tasks include: Taking in-hand photos and coordinating professional product photography. Running between different factories, workshops, or artisan markets to check inventory, negotiate prices, and build strong local relationships. Assisting in setting up a fulfillment system—starting with a pre-order business model and quickly moving towards ready-to-ship inventory. Coordinating the safe packing and fast shipping of pottery pieces to the United States. Helping design efficient logistics so we can eventually maintain warehouses both in Chihuahua and Arizona with regular deliveries between the two. Staying proactive in finding new pottery styles, artists, and exclusive collaborations. The goal is to scale fast and create a smooth supply chain that connects local artisans to customers worldwide through our online platform.
