Full-Stack Software Engineer for Platform Development and Modernization

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team as a remote contractor. This role is crucial for helping us manage our existing development backlog, maintain our mature production platform, and drive its continuous improvement and modernization.

The successful candidate will work closely with our CTO and Product Manager, initially receiving direct guidance from the CTO and gradually gaining independence as they become familiar with our systems and processes. The work encompasses a diverse range of tasks, including bug fixing, platform maintenance, developing small to medium-sized features, and contributing to the gradual modernization of our technology stack.

Our core technology stack includes:
- Web Applications: Next.js and Laravel
- Mobile Development: React Native
- Backend Services: Node.js / NestJS, Python with Prefect workflows, and some Go / GoFiber services
- Databases: MySQL/AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, and Redis
- Tools & Infrastructure: GitHub, Docker, Jest, Grafana, and Loki

We are looking for a developer with strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and the ability to seamlessly work across both frontend and backend systems. Essential experience includes React/Next.js, Node.js APIs, SQL databases, Git, and automated testing.

Beneficial, but not required, experience includes React Native, Python, Go, Stripe/payment integrations, AWS, Docker, and observability tools.

The ideal candidate will be capable of taking a well-defined development ticket, understanding an existing codebase, investigating issues, implementing and thoroughly testing solutions, and preparing clear pull requests with minimal supervision. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills are paramount, including the ability to effectively utilize application logs and monitoring tools for issue investigation. We value proactive communication; the developer should be comfortable asking clarifying questions and proposing alternative solutions when a better approach is identified. Excellent written and spoken English is required. This is a fully remote position with flexible timezone considerations.
